What are sublimation puzzles

Sublimation puzzles are blanks with a coating that accepts sublimation ink. You print a photo or layout on sublimation paper and transfer it to the puzzle in a heat press at roughly 180–200 °C. The image becomes part of the surface: bright, with no stickers or film. Such a puzzle can be assembled, given as a gift in a presentation box or used as a promotional souvenir. The blanks suit a small home workshop as well as high-volume souvenir production.

Types of sublimation puzzles

This section lists 24 items, priced from 27.78 UAH. They differ by base, format and number of pieces:

• Pearl — with a pleasant glossy sheen that shows photos well. Formats A5 (80 pieces), A4 (120 pieces), A4+ (210 pieces), A3 (200 pieces) and a heart shape.
• Cardboard — an economical option for promotions and large runs, for instance A4+ with 210 pieces.
• Magnetic — assembled on a fridge or metal board: A5, A4, A3 and a magnetic heart with 52 pieces. Prices run from 44.12 UAH for A5 to 136.85 UAH for A3.
• On a wooden base — a pearl A5 puzzle with 60 pieces (15 × 22.5 cm); it looks more solid and works well as a gift.

How to choose a puzzle and what to make with it

For a romantic gift most people pick the 24.5 × 19.5 cm heart: heart-shaped sublimation puzzles start at 32.68 UAH. For a friend or colleague a rectangular A4 with a group photo works well. A magnetic puzzle is a good corporate souvenir with a logo, because it stays on the fridge and keeps your brand in sight. The more pieces, the longer it takes to assemble: A5 suits a child, A3 or A4+ suits adults.
